Highgate Haven - NW5
Modern, Wildlife Garden Design
Dartmouth Park - London
Working closely with our client during the house renovations from the planning stage, we created a contemporary space to link interior and exterior. With new panoramic glass sliding doors that fill the whole width of the house extension, it was essential to link the spaces with a seamless flow and offer spectacular year-round views to the garden. The clean, crisp geometry of the paving and gravel is softened by generous areas of abundant planting that’s been designed to be attractive to pollinators. We created a large built-in seating area with a pergola to provide dappled shade. Climbing roses, jasmine and Akebia quinata (chocolate vine) scramble overhead and scent the evening air.
We introduced a wildlife pond, plants such as water lilies, irises, rushes and more habitat the pond, encouraging dragonflies, frogs and other creatures to visit the garden, providing a haven for them.
A free space was designed into the garden to be used as desired as the children grow. The area is currently being used to grow vegetables and cut flowers for cutting but has already been a place for the children to play in their teepee.
“I highly recommend Natasha! She was a pleasure to work with throughout the project on my back garden. She listended to my brief and came up with great ideas for everyting from the garden layout and plants to hard materials, lighting and furniture. She also project managed the process from start to finish and her attention to detail is second to none. I get so many comments of how amazing it looks. I can’t wait to get my front garden done and will definitely be using Natasha again.”
The extensive planting areas offer abundant plants and trees for pollinators and fabulous interior and exterior views. A real sense of indoor-outdoor living allows for free-flow, turning the large kitchen/living area into a ‘room with a view’, bringing the garden towards you and enticing you outside.
Gorgeous feature pots and planting highlighted by atmospheric, gentle lighting finish off the evening scene.
